Wellington, FL- April 10, 2012- The Third Annual International Gay Polo Tournament will be bigger and better than ever this year. Tailgaters will enjoy the expanded capacity on both sides of the field this year. Tailgate sales have been brisk, with only a few spots remaining. A great new feature this year is food and beverage tents on both sides of the field for all ticket holders to enjoy. MARA has joined the mix to provide a space to enjoy a bite and toast to great polo with friends.

According to MARA founding partner, Rodney Brigulio, he was unaware of the event, ”A few people that have gone to the event asked us if we were going. I googled it and immediately contacted Mason Phelps to find out more. ”

MARA is an event production, catering and consulting business in Lake Worth. They operate out of a huge space that hosts the Lounge at MARA, a bistro and night spot that welcomes everyone and has a predominately gay audience on Saturday nights.

Brigulio worked in catering for Ritz Carlton before founding MARA with partners, Michelle Nowosatko and Richard Andicott, a high profile private chef and caterer who made his mark on South Beach. “We bought two tailgates to the Gay Polo Tournament, then they asked us if we wanted to do a food and beverage tent. We are thrilled. It gives us an opportunity to showcase our services and give back to the community.”

MARA plans to serve gourmet sliders, vegetable skewers and Three Olives Vodka Sno Cones in multiple flavors, including cola, grape, cherry, bubble gum and dude (Mountain Dew flavor).

“We are going to create a retro lounge, complete with furniture. We want everyone to come by and check us out!” shared Brigulio. “Then we will pour the champagne for the traditional divot stomp.”

The Third Annual International Gay Polo Tournament promises to deliver a festive and unforgettable day to enjoy friends and polo. Call today for tailgates and tickets.

Wellington, FL- March 19, 2012- The Third Annual International Gay Polo Tournament, returns to the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida to host another incredible day of polo. It will feature top polo players from the Gay Polo League (GPL) as well as some of the country’s top professional players.

This year the Gordon W. Ross Team- Re/Max will sponsor a team. Ross, who plays polo and hails from Canada, played in the International Gay Polo Tournament in 2010 and 2011.

Ross’ partner, Richard Cote, described why it is important to be a team sponsor, “Gordon Ross has been a supporter of the GPL since it’s inception. It is great exposure for Gordon’s ReMax brand because this tournament is one of the best-organized and well-produced events in amateur polo. It’s not often you have patrons like Melissa and Mark Ganzi and the opportunity to play with some of the best professional players in the world. We look forward to this tournament every year. The ponies are fantastic, the players are great sportsmen, the fans are great and they put on the best tailgates I’ve ever seen.”

Polo Gear USA serves at the Platinum Sponsor for this event, and has joined forces with Palm Beach Rox to sponsor one of the four teams in the tournament. Since 1993, Polo Gear has worked to provide the finest technical and apparel products for the sport of polo. Polo Gear then added complete apparel manufacturing and branched out into the other equestrian disciplines including dressage, jumping, hunters and corporate wear. Polo Gear outfits all the teams in team shirts and ball caps and will be the official apparel vendor for the International Gay Polo Tournament.

According to Gary Fellers Founder and President of Polo Gear, “This year the teams will be playing in shirts that will be fun, colorful and cool; like the event. Each year it gets bigger and better. It’s fun to see the evolution.”

Catherine Malone and her Cedar Crest Stables are partnering with Joy Bancroft and Star Meadow to sponsor a team and support their friends.

“What they’ve done to bring the community together is so much beyond polo. It’s a wonderful group. It’s wonderful for polo and it’s great for the entire gay community,” shared Joy Bancroft.

“I took the opportunity to sponsor a team because it enabled me to combine my compassion for the gay community and my love of horses. I am excited to be a part of this event because this is my first sponsorship under my new farm name,” confided Catherine Malone of Cedar Crest Stables.

Now in its 45th year, Gamma Mu is the International Association of Professional and Business Executives Building Friendships World-Wide. Gamma Mu has come on board as a team sponsor for the Third Annual Gay Polo Tournament.

Gamma Mu’s Cliff Pettit articulated his reasons for sponsoring a team, “We think it is a very worthwhile organization and something that our members would like to support. Chip McKenney is a long-time personal friend. We were spectators at the event last year and this year, we wanted to do more. The event brings people together. Members from all over the country are coming to the event.”

This event could not be possible without the generous support of Marc and Melissa Ganzi, owners of Grand Champions Polo Club. The Ganzi’s have generously provided the use of their polo ponies, and the perfect venue to enjoy friends and a wonderful day of polo.
